My Ongoing Resolution
I haven't made a New Year's Resolution to lose weight in years. That's mainly because the fact that I want to lose weight is a given. Has been since I was in Junior High. These days, I resolve to focus on something in another part of my life — say, this year's resolution of finishing what I start — and just assume that, yes, I want to continue to lose weight.
This is my "before" entry (no pictures — I'll leave that to your imagination), in which I discuss my stats and my plans. If you're still interested, read on.
Today, I started on a diet that Sheryl kindly forwarded me. It was originally planned out by her boyfriend John for his boss, and Sheryl says it's based on the Zone Diet.
After doing Atkins for so long, it's weird to have a box of Quaker Oats in my cupboard. But this outline is more low-glycemic than low-carb, so it's all good. The topic of one of my recent podcasts was the glycemic index, so it's not entirely foreign to me or to Aaron. Which is good, because if I hadn't done a little research prior to Sheryl's dietary suggestions, I don't know if I would have gone through with it.
Enough babble. On to the stats:
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 212.5
Bust (at maximum fullness): 46"
Chest (just below bust): 39.5"
Waist (one inch above navel, where my pants live): 45"
Hips: 50"
Neck: 15"
Upper Arms: 13.5"
Lower Arms: 10.5"
Thighs: 26" left / 26.5" right
Calves: 16"
This is embarrassing. Really. I mean, it's a lot better than I was, say, when I was shopping for wedding dresses, but it's still embarrassing. I plugged my info into the Zone website, and it says I'm 50% body fat! That can't be right. When I was 18, I was 35% body fat (according to the Army recruiter), and I was about 20 pounds lighter... well, maybe that *can* be right, then.
The big thing for me will be planning and preparing my meals ahead of time. I tried out some oats with raisins (and a tablespoon of Splenda Brown Sugar Blend), and it was actually quite yummy. I've already mixed up my tuna salad for tomorrow's lunch: tuna, hard-boiled egg white, onion, and a little reduced-fat mayo. I gave it a taste, and it's really not bad. Brings out the flavor of the tuna.
Now, I just need to plan out and assemble tomorrow's morning and afternoon snacks before I go to bed tonight, and I need to get up in time to make and eat my breakfast tomorrow, and I'll be well on my way to doing this thing right.

Which reminds me that I forgot to go buy a loaf of bread...drat! the second greatest enemy is the pop machine at work. I love coca-cola. I always have and I always will--I think there's still coke in the cola...Good luck. I am making plans to lose some tonnage, we'll see how that goes.
