Adventures in Adulting: Dryer Vent Cleaning

I really didn’t think much about it when the clothes started coming out of the dryer still slightly damp. The low setting also seemed kind of on the hot side. It wasn’t until the dryer wouldn’t turn back on after a typical Sunday of laundry that we had to take action.

Long story short, the thermal fuse tripped not once but twice. At least Aaron was able to troubleshoot that part and avoid an appliance repair call with a pack of fuses from Amazon and some YouTube video instruction.

The second time the fuse blew, though, we knew we had to get the dryer vent cleaned. We called around and went with the place that sounded the most professional over the phone, with the most knowledgeable staff for a reasonable price.

Over the course of about an hour, the guys from Toledo Duct Clean brushed and blew out our dryer vent, removing a clog of leaves and nuts from the critters that had taken refuge in our open dryer vent. They also installed a new vent cover to replace the rusted-out Sears branded one that wouldn’t stay attached anymore.

It sounds a little silly, but I actually was looking forward to Laundry Day today. Having a dryer that works like new is refreshing.

Adulting FTW.
