I took photos of my blooms on October 1st, just because I expected them to fade by the time bloom day arrived. Surprisingly enough, all the blooms were still blooming — plus some more!
The red hardy hibiscus is still kicking out flowers! The white ones have long since been done.

The Potomac apple blossom snapdragons rebloomed! I’m unlikely to grow them again, though, since they require staking.
I’m assuming this is an aster that’s popped up between my garden bed and the neighbor’s.
Although I started them in the spring and planted them with all the other spring plants, the nicotiana didn’t even start really leafing out until July or August, and didn’t bloom until September. Now that it’s finally come into its own, I kind of like it.
I started these Strawberry Fayre foxgloves this spring, too, and was surprised to see this one actually blooming in its first year!
The sedum, as usual, is enjoying the fall.
The hydrangea paniculata has turned from white to its deep autumn pink.
I feel like I could sit in my back yard and watch the burning bushes turn from green to red. The color is slowly creeping from the tippy tops down the foliage.
Cosmos are my new favorite flower — especially this Purity Sensation. The bees love it, too. It keeps blooming if I keep deadheading. I’m curious how long it will keep going…
I haven’t been particularly attentive to my roses this year, but Dortmund decided to give me one final bloom, anyway.
The butterfly bush is another that keeps blooming if I keep deadheading. Just today, I saw a monarch butterfly and a bee sharing the same spike of flowers. I love this bush.

You have some great colors this late in the season! I have just planted some hibiscus for the first time along with some other seeds so I am not-so-patientlyl waiting!
