Went into the living room to see how Connor was doing and if he wanted breakfast yet. Without looking up from his 2DS, he said, “I’m in the middle of a very hard boss right now so don’t say a word.”
Double-Brushed Poly-Spandex Knit Tunic
Finished sewing this super-comfy knit top this morning! It’s a copy of my favorite knit tunic, modified with a lining to make it reversible. Double-brushed poly spandex knit = so soft.
I made construction notes for myself in my longhand sewing journal, but I do want to mention here that this is the first garment I’ve made for myself that turned out exactly how I had planned. It fits me perfectly, I didn’t have any major technical malfunctions to mask, and it’s totally something I feel comfortable wearing in public.
I’m sure I’ll make some minor modifications to the pattern and construction over time, but I can see myself making a slew of these in all patterns and colors.
Roses and Peonies
Just as the last blooms of Iris ‘Peggy Sue’ faded, the white peonies began to bloom. Right when they reached their peak, the David Austin ‘Heritage’ English Rose started her first bloom flush.
This is going to be a good year for the garden. I can feel it.

Tall Bearded Iris
I don’t recall seeing this one bloom last spring, but I could be mistaken.
My brief research suggests that this iris might be ‘Stepping Out’, but it’s next to impossible to identify a No-ID iris.
Irises and peonies have to be two of my favorite flowers — even more so because the deer don’t eat them!
