Today’s reminder to double-check all the things: While machine-darning my husband’s shorts, I sewed the pocket lining to the leg. Real good, too, I might add. My only option was to cut the pocket away from the darning, which made for another hole to mend.

Deer Sighting

Deer sighting in my back yard! Mama and four adolescents, for a total of FIVE deer in my yard just now. At least one of the kiddos had cute little antler nubs.
They ate some weeds, munched on the yew a little, and sampled the grape hyacinths before Mama saw us watching and sauntered away from the house.
Status: Lonely
I hadn’t realized how much I looked forward to catching up with my work BFF on Monday mornings until she took an unexpected medical leave.
Unpublished: Christmas 2022
I uploaded the photos before Christmas Day was even over, but never quite got past the first line of copy:
“My Mom had already given us notice on Thanksgiving that she wouldn’t be driving out to see us on Christmas this year.”
Instead of leaving these memories to languish in my Drafts folder, I’m opting to share them now, with captions for context.

It was a low-key Christmas, but a relatively merry one that deserves to be remembered.
Shoulder Cat Selfie

My work-from-home snuggle buddy came to say hi. I can still use both hands to type, as long as he’s perfectly balanced.
